Steve Harvey TV Show to Feature "Roopster
Roux" animated shorts for kids
Wonderlove Inc. will produce animated shorts based
on the popular book series, "The Adventures of
Roopster Roux". The 60 second animated shorts are
slated to air weekly beginning in the spring of 2005
on Steve Harvey’s Big Time Television Show. The
Steve Harvey variety show currently airs on Sundays
at 7:00 p.m. central time on Warner Brothers Television.
The Steve Harvey and Roopster Roux animated shorts
will appeal to kids and encourage them to develop an
interest in reading. Kids and their parents will enjoy
watching the animated shorts together.
The animated shorts will feature Steve Harvey playing
himself. The Steve Harvey animated character joins Roopster
Roux in the very funny continuing adventures. Harvey
does the voice of his Steve Harvey character in the
featured shorts. "I really like Roopster Roux,"
said comedian Steve Harvey. "The series is fast-paced
and kids love Roopster."
Kids have come to love the Roopster Roux character
in the popular book series. Roopster feels very real
to them—he is a young rooster, a junior high school
student who loves all sports and enjoys reading. Roopster
uses his sports and reading abilities to defeat an assortment
of villains.
Harvey chose to produce the animated shorts, he said,
"because Roopster is a hero to kids and they identify
with him. My hope is that, through the Roopster Roux
adventures, kids learn to enjoy reading and build a
lifetime habit of reading and learning."
In the animated shorts, Steve Harvey helps Roopster
battle villains with heroic deeds and the knowledge
gained through reading books. When Steve Harvey and
Roopster triumph, kids believe they can too. The animations
are entertaining and educational, delivering important
messages to kids without preaching.
Steve Harvey’s Wonderlove production company
is producing the animated shorts with co-producer Lavaille
Lavette, the Roopster Roux series creator. Harvey, who
received NAACP Image Award’s "Entertainer
of the Year" in 2001, has a special rapport with
children, and they often appear on his show. His plans
for the Roopster Roux character include; Roopster
Roux /Steve Harvey Books, full length animated TV
show, educational videos, Roopster Fitness Tour, a special
children’s section on his official website, www.SteveHarvey.com,
for related fun games, puzzles, and other activities
to engage children and parents.
