Modern
Day Basketball Tales Contest
Roopster Roux’s,
“Modern Day Basketball Tales” Contest Overview
The
Writing Contest will encourage promising young sportswriters, authors,
and basketball fans to step onto the writing court through a theme
writing contest.
The
contest will kick off with a press event during the 2006, NBA All
Star Game in Houston Texas. Winning entries will be published in
a hardcover storybook. Twelve winners will be selected. The goal
of the contest is to encourage children to write and read more by
giving them an opportunity to become published authors. A portion
from the sale of the books will benefit a selected non -profit foundation.
The
writing contest is open to all students in Grades 1 through 8.
Contest
The
Writing Contest will promote the Basketball Family and education.
The contest consists of students taking a classic fairy tale and
writing it with a Basketball twist or writing an original story
with a basketball theme. Stories may be written in rhyme or prose.
All stories must be 200 words or fewer. There will be [12] winners
in all, with winners from each of the 2 categories.
Categories:
Grades 1-5 (Elementary)
Grades 6-8 (Junior
High)
Entries
will be accepted beginning March 6, 2006 through June 6, 2006. You
